Water is lifegiving. Research has shown that the sound of flowing water can help reduce stress and anxiety, improve mood and enhance sleep by lowing cortisol levels, heart rate and blood pressure through its calming sight and sound. These benefits can be achieved by both passive enjoyment, like viewing a fountain, and active engagement within the space, such as feeding fish in a koi pond.
