Ibis Coastal Landscapes was founded by CEO Kate Schneider, a corporate attorney who spent over a decade specializing in Securities Law and Regulation and Mergers and Acquisitions in Washington, DC and Dallas, Texas. After years leading complex deal closings and offerings, Kate gave up law to pursue her life-long dream of bringing beautiful landscapes and gardens to life.
Rooted in the Southeast Coastal Plain, Ibis Coastal Landscapes curates native plants shaped by Southern landscapes—and resilient enough to endure them. With an emphasis on naturally deer-resistant species, we honor generations of plants that have learned to thrive alongside wildlife while maintaining form, structure, and understated beauty.
Guided by longleaf pine savannas, coastal meadows, and shaded woodlands, we select plants for their architectural presence, seasonal restraint, and ability to hold their own in living landscapes. Each offering supports local ecosystems, conserves resources, and reflects a modern design grounded in heritage rather than excess.

Kate Schneider’s transition from law to landscape design brings a rare combination of discipline, creativity, and deep horticultural knowledge to Ibis Coastal Landscapes. After more than a decade practicing securities law, regulation, and mergers and acquisitions in Washington, DC, New York, and Dallas, she chose a more grounded path: transforming a lifelong passion for gardens into a Savannah-based design practice. Her legal career sharpened the analytical thinking, project leadership, and attention to detail that now guide each landscape from concept through completion, while her Master Gardener training and years of hands-on garden design shape an approach rooted in native plantings, Southern restraint, water conservation, and a strong sense of place.
Why Ibis?
The Ibis (pronounced eye-bis) is a long-legged coastal water bird native to the South Carolina, Georgia and Florida coast. According to Native American folklore, the Ibis is a symbol of optimism, courage and resilience as it’s the last to seek shelter in a hurricane and the first to emerge afterwards. Ibis Coastal Landscapes tackles even the most challenging of landscapes with fortitude, ingenuity and creativity as we collaborate with you to transform your space into a beautiful sanctuary.

Ibis Coastal Landscapes is rooted in the local businesses, nurseries, growers, and coastal ecosystems that shape our work. We partner with local nurseries like Southern Marsh Nursery and Cobia Clarke Nursery, sourcing from area growers whenever possible and choosing plantings that support water conservation, habitat restoration, and long-term stewardship.
We’re active in local garden organizations that protect native plants, advance conservation, and celebrate the horticultural character of the Georgia coast, including the Coastal Georgia Camellia Society and the Georgia Native Plant Society. Ibis also sponsored Earth Day Savannah through the Lite Foot Environmental Foundation, supporting community education around sustainability and responsible care for the land.
